KRB SACCO society was formed in 2003 by the then Kenya Roads Board staff and given the name ‘KRB SACCO SOCIETY LIMITED’. It was registered by the ministry in charge of cooperatives under the number CS /10023. The membership consisted of only staff in the Kenya Roads Board common bond. As members retire (or otherwise exit employment of the Board), they continue saving with the society. Members have also introduced their spouses and children above the age of eighteen to the SACCO membership.
During the year 2015 membership to the society was opened to the public so long as one is introduced by an existing member. The membership has since grown to include friends and relatives of the KRB staff.
The SACCO had 145 members by the close of the year 2022 with total deposits of Ksh.91Million.
